Fiscal Period/Year SAP Exit Variable (0P_PRFP1)

I have a CO monthly transaction load that I am putting into a process chain. I am using variable 0P_PRFP1 in the infopackage to populate fiscal period/ year with the prior month.

I was wondering what this variable will do when the package is executed in January. Since the variable description is Previous Period of Current Fiscal Year, will it encounter an error in January as there is no prior period for that year, or is it 'intelligent' enoungh to realize it is a new year and to select December of the prior year?
