Hi All,
Our BW systems are on BW 7.0 and this is direct BW 7 implementation and not upgrade from BW 3.5. We generated EWA report on our BW production system. In EWA, we getting the following message.
You are using the obsolete 3.x authorizations in BW 7.x. SAP no longer support this feature.
I am not sure why we getting this message even though our BW implementation is 7.01 and we never have any BW 3.x system. This means even we implement directly BW 7.x , do we need to run RSEC_MIGRATION program? If need to run this, Can we run in dev and transport upto production or need to run directly on each system Dev, Test and Production?
Please shed some light on this.
Thank you
Venkat
I'm not sure why this would be set but did you check the Authorization mode in RSCUSTV23?

Hi,
After executing RSEC_MIGRATION, select the reporting authorization objects to be migrated. At the end of the migration run, check for the warings & errors. This should be your base to proceed further.
Further, identify the InfoAreas, InfoProviders on which the queries are built-on, and InfoObjects which are to be made as authorization relevant.
Create the analysis authorizations based on these inputs and assign them.
You can use the below tables to prepare a matrix to understand the Role Vs, Infoarea, infoprovider, object and the queries that are included:
- AGR_DEFINE
- AGR_HIER
- RSRREPDIR
- RSDCHA
Hope this information will make the migration helpful.
Thanks

Hi Venkat
Please check the SPRO setting for BIW authorization mode.
SPRO
-> SAP Customizing Implementation Guide
-> SAP NetWeaver
-> SAP Business Information Warehouse
-> Reporting Relevant Settings
-> General Reporting Settings
-> Analysis Authorizations Select Concept
Execute the "Analysis Authorizations Select Concept" and check for Check for Customizing ID: "Business Information Warehouse". The Authorization Mode should be : "Current procedure with Analysis Authorizations". if it is not same then need to make the same.
And ofcourse the Authorization Migration is required from RSECADMIN from release 7.0 to 7.3.
Steps:
– Execute RSECADMIN transaction
– Click on “Extras -> Migrations -> Migration: Release 7.0 -> Release 7.3
– Select Migration Options
- Activate Analytics Security Objects Automatically (Generate A version)
Thanks and regards,
Vinod
