SAP BO Webi performance issue for different users

Former Member

Hi ,

I have got an issue with a SAP BO 4.0 user A who is experiencing performance issues with Webi reports under her Windows AD login. When she opens a report it takes approx. 3-5mins before she can scroll up and down to view the report. Likewise it takes similar amount of time to view the refreshed report.

Another user B who has exactly the same rights and is part of the same AD group has no problems. The reports open up fairly quickly within a minute or so.

Got user B to login to user A's computer to test whether it was something to do with the computer. User B had no issues. It worked fine as normal.

When user A logged onto user B's computer she  experienced the same problem as on her original machine. Therefore the issue with the machine is ruled out.

Could there be an issue with the users Windows profile?

The two users are on the same domain and also members of the same AD group.

We have SAP BO 4.0 SP2 patch 15 installed on our BO environment. Also we have SSO configured to get users to login automatically.

Does anyone have an clue on what could be the problem here? Your assistance will be appreciated. Thanks

What about the java level on the machine?

Both machines have Java2 Runtime Environment, SE V1.4.2_06 and Java(TM) 6 Update 30 installed on them.

In addition to the info provided I tested with the users Enterprise accounts just to see whether the Window profile could the problem or not. The results are as follows:

User A had no problem opening any of the reports except for one which she had been using all this time only. This one report had the same problem in terms of delay as mentioned earlier. So the problem is narrowed down to just one report.

User B had no problems with any of the reports. No even with the one that is in question which user B has problems with.

So it seems the problem is not with Windows profile either. Please note that out of all the reports the user A has access to she only uses only one and this is what is not running well JUST FOR HER.

Could anyone please shed some light on what could be the problem. Any assistance appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Firstly, use SP04 or SP05 and a higher patch. (P4.10 or P5.3 available)  - you can expect a 10% improvement in pure runtime during the fetch phase (only).

Secondly, when monitoring the "slow" user compared to the 'fast' user. Where is the increase in time being spent?   in the BW SM50 workprocess? or the BI4 webi proc server? or the BI4 dsl bridge (APS)?

This could be due to security being checked in the SAP system. For example, does the problem happen with an Alias mapped to SAP_ALL profile?

Hi thanks for your respond.

We found that giving the right "System > Relational Connection > Download connection locally" on connection level solved the issue!

Hi,

Right click on Connection folder > User security (select the access level)> view security

You can change Security via "Access Levels" in CMC, right click on the desired access level group > Included Rights > Add/remove Rights

Hi Amit,

May be you figured out the right, Here is a reference.

I get a "Invalid Connection" error and it got resolved when this right was provided. Even though the user is accessing through WebIntelligence on BI LaunchPad, I had to provide this right in order for them to query the universe.
