Hi Friends,
I am using EasyDMS 7.1. According to standard functionality, creation of new version of an existing DIR from easydms, gives a pop-up message asking for object links that can be copied. But the same functionality is not available for the copy-paste DIR option. How can I bring in this functionality while creating a new DIR using copy-paste method?
thanks,
Pratap
Hi Pratap,
regarding this behavior I have to inform you that such a pop-up is not available in EasyDMS. This is
because for creating new document info records in EasyDMS the DMS BAPIs are used in the backend system. Unfortunately BAPIs do not allow any user interaction and so this pop-up cannot be
displayed in EasyDMS when doing a copy & paste action.
Best regards,
Christoph

Hi Pratap,
Christoph has confirmed what I said you couple of days back.
I feel this BAPI, works only when it some reference to a particular DIR. That's the reason, When you create a new version, it pops-up asking you whether you want to retain the existing object links or not.
In case of copy-paste method, BAPI doesn't find any reference to the existing DIR. That's reason, it may not pop-up asking for your decision. I'm not a technical guy. But this is what I felt & this is my understanding.
How ever if you find any other solution, keep this forum updated.
Regarding z-customizing: Since EDMS is a stand alone application, I feel this could be little tough task. May be you need to identify the API/ method/ structure called in ECC/DMS system, when this copy paste event occurs in EDMS & when this EDMS tried to update ECC/DMS system.
Other way, disable this functionality (if possible) and force the users to use traditional way of creating versions in EDMS.
Good luck
