Hi,
I would appreciate if anyone can give me some tips on simplifying a production order as much as possible. The requirement is to handle materials that are assembled and issued on demand using components that are kept in stock. The Production Order can handle this requirement using Bill of Materials but the steps are too long considering that the users will be warehouse workers who are familiar with Materials Management and not Production Planning.
In order to use the Production Order for the handling of these materials, it is important to keep the process as simple as possible (no other costs except for the components, no capacity planning etc). Ideally the steps should be:
1. Create a production order
Once the production order is created and saved, ideally the following should happen: The order is released automatically. The system automatically does a GI for the components in the BOM. The GR for the assembled product is done automatically. The order is confirmed and settled immediately.
2. Issue the assembled material
This is done using the normal issuing process in MM.
It would be very useful if PP can be configured to process simple production orders using only one transaction (C002). It is most likely not possible but please show me how close you can get to simplifying the PP process into even 2 steps (example: 1. Create production order, 2. Settle the order).
I got some good advice on the MM forum: http://scn.sap.com/message/13620693 but I just want to see if there are more ideas.
Thanks.
