Assigning resources to an activity- is there a limit?

I have someone trying to assign approx 400 resources to a single activity.  They get an ABAP error message after 255.  Is there a limit to the number of resources that can be assigned to a single activity? I cannot find any documentation on this, not sure if we need to address the error or inform the user of a system limitation.

can you please be more specific about the error you are getting?

Moreover, what are you referring to when you are saying "resources"? Are we talking about an activity within an SAP NetWeaver BPM process? I am asking, because SAP NetWeaver BPM is Java-based. The only reason for an ABAP error I can think of is when you are using WD ABAP for your task UIs. So, any additional information to put your question in the right context is highly appreciated.

I am not sure any such limitations set up but still it would be better to share with error message number and description of error message.

With my experience never gone beyond 50 to 60 resources assignment to work center and never assigned not more than 20 any point of time.

Quite interesting to know.
