Diagnostic Agent SID and System No convention

Hi All,

We are installing Netweaver 7.3, As part of installation SAP install Diagnostic Agent on System.

By default, During installation SAP picks DAA as Agent SID no and 97 as System no of Diagnostic Agent.

My query is we are going to install several system like SAP Netweaver BW 7.3 DEV, QAS & PRD .

and some other SAP products also.

What should be our method to choose Diagnostic Agent System SID and System No Across the Landscape. Can it be same for all system or we should different SIDs and System No for every installation.

Please suggest.

Shivam

Hi Shivam

If your diagnostic agent is on different host then you can have same SID (DAA) as well as same instance no for all the system.

If you have 2 different SAP system on same server then you would need to mention diffrent SID (DAA/DAB/..)and system no (96/97..). We currently have our different SAP system on same server so we have 2 diag agent but for others SID and sys no could be same.

Hi Shivam,

Following points needs to be taken care for diagnostic agent installation -

1. The UID should be same for "daaadm" user through out the landscape.

2. By default, SAP picks 97 as instance number. So when u are installing another system on same host, you need to pickup a different installation number for diagnostics agent.

If installation is done on different host, you can choose same numbers like 97,96,95 and so on.

I have done lot of installations in my landscape and this is what i know from my experience.

Hope this answers your query,
