Information Steward Installation

I have a server where the BI Platform is already installed.  The components that already exist are on this server are Cental Management Server (CMS), Adaptive Processing Server (APS). Adaptive Job Server (AJS), and File Repository Server (FRS).

• Can I install Information Steward (IS) on a new server without installing any of the BI Platform components?
  • If needed, what BI Platform components need to be installed on the IS server?

Hi Nitin,

I suggest that on the new IS Server:

1. Install a BIP node (custom BI install ) with only: 

• Platform Processing Services
• Platform Scheduling Services
• (May be CMC, it depends see 4 below)

2. Install DS Job Server  (needed for IS primary install "repo creation")

3. Decide where you want to install DS?

4. Decide if you need all the webtier of BI/DS/IS to run from one location or seperate

Hi Nawful,

Thank you for your response.  I am going to have separate server for Data Services and separate server for the Web Server.  Note that the BOE has its own Web Server.

Data Services Server: I am planning on installing the Job Server, Metadata Browsing Service, and View Data Service since I am only using Data Insight.  Is there anything I am missing?

Web Server: I am planning on installing the Web Tier on the Web Server and the IS Web Application.   Is there anything that I am missing?

Hi,

Data Services Server: That's ok

Web Server : OK  (you may need to install BOE CMC also here, unless you are planning on doing  some manual deployment)

IS Server: ( you need the DS job server here otherwise you can't do IS primary install)

the install guide and Admin guide are good source of information (see deployment scenarios secstion)

Nitin,

While installing IS, it will prompt you for CMS details and IS repository details (basically repo db info). Once you provide them, all necessary servers for IS will/can be configured in BOE CMC itself.

Thanks for the response.  The install guide suggests that I need to have the BI platform on the same machine.  Please see below.  Can you please clarify?

Review the destination folder information.

This is the folder into which the installation program installs Information Steward. The BI Platform

must be installed in the same location.
