Problems Starting SAP WAS

Hi,

We have a fresh installation of a Central Instance (ABAP, Unicode on Oracle) and a Database Instance.

Both installations ended successfully, but when we try to get the server running to install a Java AddIn for ABAP, we get these errors:

SAP Basis System: Message server disconnected

SAP Basis System: Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256

The Oracle database seems to be Ok.

Has anyone had this problem?

thanks,

Javier

Please let me know the solution of the same! it is really urgent!! Should we have to do a reformant of the system and reinstall again or any chances to trouble shoot the issue!

Please reply to my email account:veeraraghavan.srinivasan@vitalspring.com

Hi Javier,

Stop the Installation. Stop the SAP System and Start.

Check your ABAP System is stable(check using MMC or login to the SAP System). I suspect on your ABAP System. Check whether your DATABAse Service also running.

Sometimes it is easier to troubleshoot startup problems when you start each component individually.

Start the oracle listener.

Start the database using sapdba.

Login to the database, and run a simple query such as select * from sapr3.T000

Run tp connect SID , or R3trans -d

Finally start SAP.

Depending on which step you get the error at, you can focus at that component.

Thanks for all the replies I found out that the Database Instance was wrongly installed, although the installation said that there were no problems...

Now I am fighting with this DB instance installation.

Hi,

I have the same problem in an NW04 installtion with MS SQL Server. What I have found so far is that no DB instance had been created. This is because I forgot to execute the second step of the SAPINST process for ABAP which is to Install the Database Instance.

I just assumed that Central Instance install was all that was required.

Try it an let me know.

Is SAP system running? also, did you change password for oracle? last, are you using right oracle client?

Oracle is as the installations left it, passwords are untouched. Also the client is correct, the problem is when we try to start the system to install the AddIn.

Actually I checked and SAP system starts without problem but on the installation step "Java System > RFC Connection" then we get the error: Unable to open RFC connection to SAP System AAA. Start the system. And on SAPMMC console the disp+work.exe process is stopped and these error messages appear:

SAP Basis System: Message server disconnected

SAP Basis System: Initialization DB-Connect Failed, Return Code 000256
