DB Connect for MSS (SQL Server)

Hi there

We are running BW 3.5 on AIX-UNIX servers and I am wondering if we can establish a DBConnect for an external SQL Server as I am reading that BW server requires a SQL Server client installation and I don't think Microsoft has client software for non-windows systems.

Any ideas or suggestions greatly appreciated.

If you're using BW 3.5, I would recommend to use UDC to connect your SQL-server DB.

The only kind of "client installation" you have to do on the DBMS-side, is to install (if not already active) the JDBC-driver to use UDC (and the configuration of the connection parameters in BW/Netweaver).

We don't mind doing an install on the MSSQLServer side. However, I am not sure what you meant by UDC which I don't see anywhere; either under 'Create Source System' or under 'DBMS type'. Appreciate your comments with some detailed explanation.
