Creating MSSQL as Source System

Former Member

Hi All,

I can't find any notes how to create MS SQL Server as source system in BW. Could anyone write me how to fill these fields?:

- Logical System Name

- Source System Name

- Conn. info

I will be grateful for any example of correct configuration of MSSQL InfoSource.

Regards,

Maciek

Hi Maciej,

Create the logical system name in BD54.

Now go to RSA1 -> Source System -> Create -> Select SAP DB Connect -> Give the logical system name -> DSource System name(any text) -> Fill the details like user name and password. Connection info in case of Oracle is the TNS name. Not sure for MS SQL.

Hope it helps.

Hi Maciej,

Not much idea..I obtained the below info from SAP Help..

+The database library is made available in the SAP Service Marketplace in the SAR archives LIB_DBSL.SAR, in the patch directories, which are independent of database manufacturer.

You can access the required directory via the Software Center of the SAP Service Marketplace in the Internet, via the following address: http://service.sap.com/swcenter-main ® SAP Web AS ® Relevant SAP Web AS Release ® Binary Patches ® Relevant SAP Kernel Release ® BW Application Server Operating System ® Source-Database Management System® LIB_DBSL.SAR.

Load the file into the directory indicated by the environment variable DIR_LIBRARY.

The file LIB_DBSL.SAR forms a complete SAP kernel patch together with the database-independent DW.SAR archive. (SAP Note 19466 - Downloading SAP Kernel Patches describes how kernel patches are imported).

Next, unpack the SAR archive with the SAPCAR tool. Before doing so, refer to note 212876- The New Archiving Tool SAPCAR

We recommend you also download the latest DBSL from the SAP Service Marketplace for SAP DB databases.+

Hi Maciej,

Is the Database Shared Library installed on your BW server. Check this with your BASIS. For more info refer the following link:

Hi,

my BASIS said that we have only Database Shared Library installed for MaxDB (our database for SAP BW). He said there is not DSL for MSSQL Server to be installed on AIX System. Probably we will have to pay for such interface. Is it true?

Its very similar to creating a logical system.

Here are the steps, gurus check me if am not right!

Creating a Source System

A brief procedure for creating an R/3 source system involves these steps:

1.Creating a logical system for the R/3 client

2.Creating a logical system for the BW client

3.Naming background users

4.Creating the R/3 source system in BW

If you havent found an answer yet, i can briefly go thru the steps.

Let me know ASAP.
