How to display a user status in the activity overview in CJ20N?

Hi,

In the project builder in the activity overview we have a list of all activities including also the field system status. We like to add the field user status. I assume a development would be required. Does anybody know which user exit allows that?

In the activity overview there are the tabs ‘Int. Processing’, ‘Ext. Processing’ etc. We like to add the user status on tab ‘total’ as we have here also the option to set date restrictions.

Background of the request: In the activity overview we consider to set a user status for multiple activities. We want to do that by highlighting the relevant activities and choosing the blue i-button to set the user status. Unfortunately, it’s afterwards in the activity overview not visible for which activities the user status was set. This is annoying and a little bit intransparent. Are there other options to set a user status for multiple activities?

G.

Hi G.M.

I really don't get why would you need to display the user status, to achieve what you want.

Here my suggestion:

  • In transaction CJ20N / Activity overview for each netorwk select the activities you want to assign a new user status.
  • You say "We want to do that by highlighting the relevant activities and choosing the blue i-button to set the user status". Please remember that if you do so, you will not get a mass change.
  • To get a mass change in user status go to: menu - edit -  status - user status - set & pass on. Select the appropiate status and ok.
  • A message is diplayed by SAP with the change log for every activity selected.

Another way to get a similar result:

  • In transaction CN41N you can see a colum with status (both system and user status).
  • If You want to modify system status highlight the relevant activities and choose the change button. The system will take you to every operation/activity selected. Click the i-button and do the change.

I hope this helps.

Hi Isidro,

Thanks a lot for your reply.

Regarding your first proposal: a mass change in user status go to: menu - edit -  status - user status - set & pass on:

--> We are not looking for a mass change. We want to set only for some activities of the network a user status and date restrictions.

Regarding your second proposal: CN41N:

--> Indeed, here the user status is displayed on the initial screen and both date restriction & user status can be set for some selected activities of the network. But unfortunately, the handling is in comparison to the activity overview in CJ20N a little bit more complicated. We would have to

1. Highlight one activity and click the change-button

2. Cancel the popup “activity detail data (basic) with the red cross as we don’t need it

3. Then we are in the overview “change: network: basic data overview (basic dates)” which is the same like in the activity overview in the project builder (and equal to CN22). Here we can choose again the total-tab and set restriction-dates and user-status for selected activities.

My question: is there a way to avoid step 2? Is it somehow possible to suppress this popup? (We are supposed to avoid any additional mouse-click …). Without this popup CN41N would be my preferred solution. Or is there another option (another t-code or functionality) available?

Hi

As already pointed by our friend just wanted to add that display of user status at NWA is not a standard on CJ20N. But at the same time you can develope Zreport which will display all the user status on activities as well as WBS elements also.

I am not sure any viable option to set enmass user status on NWA. I guess reason being its user status and can be set by selectively for each activity since user status might differ from one activity to other depending on the business transactions.

Modifying the standard program is not a appropriate option unless you go with full blown custom report.

Hi,

It's not necessary to develop a Zreport which displays the user status. The standard report CN47N provides already the user status.

But it's our requirement to maintain in a table-based-view for many activities at the same time date restrictions and a user status per activity. It's planned to do a copy/paste for the date-restrictions from another tool into the activity overview.

This requirement is fulfilled by the activity overview in CJ20N. Furthermore it's here also possible to highlight e.g. 5 of 20 activities and set a user status via the blue i-button for multiple activities (in a more or less comfortable way). But in the activity overview itself it's not possible to see for which activities a user status was set. Only the system status is available, not the user status. It's very difficult to "sell" to our users that you cannot see for which activities you just have set a user status.

The only option I see is to add the user status field to the activity overview. How can it be developed? Or is there another view in PS available were date restrictions and user status can be set for several activities in one "overview"?

Hi G M,

This is not available in the standard SAP  system. You'll have to consider development.

I also advise you not do any development on CJ20N, it's bit complex. Instead you can try other project/ network maintenance transaction code(s) to achieve your needs.

Good luck.

Hi,

If you have already assigned  status profile in OPSC in relevant Network type then you would be able to set/see the user status for activity under the 'Status view (i button)' of the activity. And I think it is better to navigate in user statuses than to create a custom tab for the same usage.

Even though if you want to create such a tab, please check the path :

Project System>Structures>Operative Structures>Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)>User Interface Settings>Layout of WBS Element Detail Screens>Define Layout of WBS Element

OR

Select the WBS > Settings > Layout details Screen > Activate the tab (as per your own settings)

Hi Ankur,

I think the query is about seeing the user status in the activity overview in CJ20N. Select the network and click on activity overview to check if you can see the user status column there.

@ G M - Correct me if i am wrong.

I tried to see the column in my system, in Cj20N but was not able to do so. Also checked the table control but there too the column was not visible. Not sure but some changes in the table control might help in getting the user status column.

Thanks Gokul. I think I misread the query.

@ G M - Hi, I think a custom development for your requirement would require some expertise hands of ABAP. There would be some enhancements of CNEX000.. series which may work for that. Rest, all the possibilities are already shared by our friends.
