Settlement in cost projects

Hi All,

         i plan cost for activites with costcenter 4290 and activity type , i confirm the activities so actual cost is posted to activites. My strucutre consists of 2 level all the cost plan is done at 2nd level and confirmation is also done for the activites of 2nd level wbs elements. the actual cost is at level 1. for settlement i maintain rule for level 1 wbs element in order to settle to cost center 4290. when i execute settleement ie cj88 it is executed without any errors but i am not able to see any details. i am not able to close the project as the cost is still at activity level. could anybody guide me to close the project.

Hi Tushar,

        the link doesn't explain much.As far as know i define settlement profile with required receivers, for settlement strategy for wbs structure ( as my project limit to wbs) the settlement rule strategy settings contian AAc Ass row in which it has two specific options regarding cost center could you explain the differnece betw them.

Hi Abhinay,

Settlement rules for WBS elements are determined by a range of different strategies which are defined in Customizing.  In case of Cost projects, system can derive settlement rule for WBS elements from the cost center responsible, or the requesting cost center.In the settlement rule strategy, one can specify the sequence in which the settlement rule is to be determined.

           Thanks for your link but i am getting confuse while reading the process, the thing which i understand upto know is that in order to transfer actual cost from project to any cost objects we use settlement proces . for that we maintain settlement rule for wbs elements(ie senders).2) in settlement profile we maintain the proces fro settlement and receivers. 3) in trans code CJ 88 we execute setlement..

but i am not sure of maintianing setlement rule, generate settlement rule directly and also the whole sequence could you please provide any data which will be very helpful for me.

Hi Abhi,

Make sure if any liability is on project then project can not closed properly and originate various errors until all wouldn't be cleared.

Dear Abhinay,

Please check whether you maintained settlement profile for network, so that all cost of network would be settle on related WBS. Than Settlement rule for WBS will be receiver as Costcenter so all he cost should be transferred to actual receiver that is Cost Center.

Ensure that, you are settling your NWA cost to your level 2 WBSE, which is rolling up to level 1 WBSE.

As Tushar said, check CJI3 and you'll come to know which cost/commitment is still pending at what level. This should help you to resolve your issue.

Hi,

Your actual costs are sitting at Level 2 WBS element and maintained the settlement rule at Level 1 WBS.

Where is your NWA costs are settling in this case, hope it is from NWA to WBS level 2.

If hierarchy structure maintained properly the actual costs at aggregate level 1 would be settled to CTR properly. I guess can you post screen shot how your WBS arrangement was done in PB.

Hi Abhinay,

Check CJI3 report and see if the total of the cost is ZERO. If the cost is not ZERO, then it means settlement has not executed completely. In such case, through CJI3 , you can see which of the cost is not settled.

Check CJI5 report and see if there are any open commitments (PR,PO) for specific activity. If yes, then you need to close those PO by setting Deliv.compl. checkbox.

hi Tushar,

              i define settlement profile with costcentr as optional. in Project structure i maintain settlement rule for activites each activity settlle the cost to resp wbs element. i maintain settlement rule for each wbs element with cost center as receiver. but i am not able to settle the cost to cost center.

Hi All,

  the issue is solved. when i execute settlement ( CJ88 for entire project it didn't settle properly but when i execute settlement seperately ie for wbs elements it perform setlement and cost are settled to respective cost center.

Dear abhi,

you need not to do separate settlement for wbs, you can execute this for Project this will automatically do all the things if you have configured correctly.

Hi Sunil,

    when i am doing settlement for project in detail list the system is diplaying network activities as sender and 2nd level wbs as reciver. but according to my settlement rule sender should be top level wbs and receiver should be cost center, where did i go wrong could you help me.

Dear Abhi,

Network settlement will automatically do settlement to immediate upper WBS than you have to assign settlement rule where you want to settle the cost of that WBS either upper level WBS or directly to cost center.
