EPM: Performance issues within reporting caused by dimension formula

Hallo Community,

I found several discussions about performance issues caused by using dimension formulas, such as:

------ General Information:

We are using BPC 10.0 and the EPM Add-in in version 10.0 SP 12 Patch 6 for .NET 4.0 Build 8143

------ Problem:

I have to admit that I din't try script logic yet due to few experience in implementing that. I still wonder about the following thing: I have a report that refreshes in about 4-7 seconds. After I add an account / KPI that is a calculated, refreshing time goes up to 40 seconds. The formula behind that account only uses leave elements and is quite simple:

[05HS010000004829] / ([05HS010000004721] + [05HS010000004722] + [05HS010000004723] + [05HS010000004724] + [05HS010000004739])

My questions now are:

  • Why is such a simple formula causing such big problems? (We actually have around 30 formulas of that kind in use)
  • Is there a better way to set up such formulas or let's say to tune them?
  • Why am I not able to use node elements in formulas? When I try to set up a formula such as "[NodeElementA] / [NodeElementB]" an errors comes up while processing the dimension

Any help / suggestions about that would be really appreciated,
