ODBC connection to MS SQL database

Hi

I have successully installed Microsoft's native ODBC driver to connect to an external MS SQL database as per the documentation below.

It works when I use isql.

I am trying to create an entry in table DBCON to connect to this database via ABAP but it is not working.

I have read that you need a Window's based app server to do this, but since this ODBC driver exist, I was wondering why a connection cannot be establised in t-code DBCO.

We are on ECC 6.0, Oracle database, Red Hat 5.0 Linux server.

Any ideas?

Hi All;

I found OSS Note 1644499.  It solves this problem but I did have to upgrade my Kernel (I actually upgraded to 7.21) and got the necessary files from SAP by logging a ticket.
