Is there a setting in the setup of the depreciation key so that when this key is used the system will restart depreciation- meaning the useful life that is given in the asset will need to be taken as the full useful life ignoring the expired useful life.
In other words if an asset has already depreciated 5 years and the total useful life is 10 yrs, when we update this key the asset will start depreciated for an other 10 yrs ignoring the expired useful life.
Thank you
SV
Hi ,
It is a workaround i.e do not enter expired useful life as it should not be considered in your case .By this ,depreciation will be calculated for actual useful life

Hello SV,
Do not need to change the key, if you are using Z Key, just make the changes on Base method, by telling the system, when to start the depreciation.
You can check there are many standard SAP Depreication Key are available for this Base Method at
IMG/Asset Accounting/Depreciation/Valuation Method/Depreciation Key/Calculation Method/Define Base Method.
Best Luck,
