Dear Gm,
I have set Bulk indicator in Material master,
I want to maintain the same material in the BOM for just visual purpose only this material BOM should not be exploded during Planning and production order confirmation,In this case what item category to be maintained in the BOM
Thanks in advance
Arun kumar K
Hi Arun,
There is nothing wrong in maintaining the Bulk materials also with item actegory 'L..
But, a better process when adding the 'Bulk materials' as components in the BOM will be, to use Item category 'C - Consumables'.
This will help visual controls when referring to/maintaining the BOM, without the need to drill down into the Material/Component data to identify the list of Bulk materials in the BOM.
Thanks
Senthil

HI
The dependent requirements of bulk materials are not relevant to materials planning. This means they are not taken into account for net requirements calculation. Therefore planning for bulk materials should be consumption-based.
If bulk materials are subject to material requirements planning, you must create planned independent requirements for them.

Hi Arun,
You can use Item category as 'L'
If you want to exclude this material at the time of MRP run then you can do the setting in OPPQ
i,e. plant parameter
1.Activate Check box Excl.Bulk Material
Pls do this setting & revert back in case any issue.
If you satisfies with our answer then pls awd points & close this thread.

Ravindra,
Bulk materials are excluded from MRP in both cases whether that check box in OPPQ is checked or unchecked. If it is unchecked, the bulk material will be copied (exploded) to planned order or production order (it will have bulk checked in component overview) that's the only difference, but it is for informational purpose only (in planned order or production order).
Dear,
You can use item category as L for Bulk item in BOM.
