Hi all,
I have setup 2 dimension: Division and Brand. For example:
I have Division 1 and Division 2 setup as profit centers for Divison and I have Brand A, Brand B and Brand C setup as profit centers for Brand.
How can i setup two-level distribution rule for expense account. For example:
I post $1000 to telephone expense account. I want distribute $600 to Division 1 an $400 to Division 2. I have setup distribution rule as follow:
Division 1 - 60%
Division 2 - 40%
And the above works. But i will need to further distribute according to Brand. For example, from the above, i have distributed $600 to Division 1 and i need to further distribute the $600 between Brand A, Brand B and Brand C. In summary i will like to achieve:
Posted $1000 to telephone expense account:
First level distribution:
Division 1 -> $600
Second level distribution:
Brand A -.> $200
Brand B -> $300
Brand C -> $100
First level distribution:
Division 2 -> $400
Second level distribution:
Brand A -.> $100
Brand B -> $200
Brand C -> $100
When i setup disctribution rule, i can only select profit centers from 1 dimension. I cannot select from 2 dimensions. How can i achieve the above two-level distribution?
Thanks all.
Hi,
As István indicated, because B1 only support one level, you need to using your own naming to get what you want indirectly. Such as D1Ba, D1Bb, D1Bc, D2Ba, D2Bb and D2Bc.
Thanks,

You misunderstand the meaning of the dimensions. They are not to manage more level distribution of the costs, but for distributing according to independent aspects.
If you want to distribute the cost to two levels, you should define 6 cost centers for the detailed distribution for division and brand
(Div1BrandA,D1BB,D1BC,D2BA,D2BB,D2BC)
and use Sort Code set for the cost centers
(D1,D1,D1,D2,D2,D2)
to make possible to collect the costs allocated to the divisions.

Hi Kennedy,
I have already read the message you indicated but it is not quite the same scenario as mine. The one in the message is allocating 100% to sales department then use distribution rule for the product dimension.
As for my scenario, i will need to first distribute by Division then by Brand. So for example, 60% is distributed to Division 1, i will need to further distribute the 60% within Division 1 to different Brand.
Thanks.
