GIS Integration with SAP GUI and GIS object programming

Hi experts,

How we can integrate the GIS (Geographical Information Systems) field in SAP GUI.

I read somewhere that we can do this by the help of GISConnex Tools (http://www.gisconnex.com/) but how it gets done?

Kindly help me on this topics and what kind of tools we can use to this integration process.

Is there any OLE process or something else?

Hi Praveer,

It depends if you would like to perform full integration or just Geo-coding.

A full integration will enable to show a map screen in SAP and also perform spatial analysis on SAP data. It can be done by custom development (SAP/client) or using 3rd party tools which usually target specific ERP modules, all depends on the business process you need to implement.

Geo-coding can be done by using external web service.

The recommended integration is depended on the business requirements and their use cases. I can better direct you if you will be able to share some more details about the integration goals.

Actually before i was working in .Net Field, where i was integrating the GIS field with .Net and display the GUI directly in may software, the GIS Software was MapInfo / MapXtreme Package.

The same thing i want to do in SAP GUI. here i got some of the information, that by the help of the GISConnex tools (www.gisconnex.com) and the GIS support package in ESRI.

We can integrate the GIS in SAP as well GIS GUI also.

Kindly suggest me, how we can integrate the GIS GUI in SAP and is there other tools are also available or not.

And what is the Web Service for GIS Geo-Coding.

Hi Praveer,

We used two methods of integration. One with .NET component that was hosted in SAP GUI and in another project using HTML hosting.

I am not familiar with gisconnex but from their web site is looks exactly what you are looking for.

Also note that SAP CD also offer an integration package.

SAP has a standard component that can be connected to any GIS geo-coding web service.
