Hi All,
I want to know,why do we need to specify,what delta type is utilized by a data source???
What significance these delta types have in extraction?
Thanks & Regards
Minal
Today, there is another post with the same question. You can complete your information.
Best regards.

Hi,
A stands for "User ALE";
F for "Flat files provide delta";
D for "application determines delta";
E for "Extractor determines delta";
The last two are used for transaction data.
Example:
😧 LIS applications: document changed in application causing a delta queue change via V3 collect job for instance.
Hope it helps a bit.

The delta type basically determines the point in the extraction that delta is determined.
If Application determines delta, then when the application is posting a transaction, it determines the delta, checks for relevance to BW (datasource initialized for the selection) and writes the delta to the delta queue.
If extractor determines delta, then the extraction program figures out the changes. Most of extractor dependent deltas are based on pointers (time stamp, ALE change documents). Most of the time the data is first updated to the ODS and then to an InfoCube.

Hi,
To add to all this,
Delta type "D" (where the application determines delta) is normally used in case of MM,SD,PM,Fi ...the regular modules.
whereas "E"( where the extractor determines delta) is used in case of LIS, FI-SL, Co-PA.
Interesting to see is LIS inspite of having those 2 tables carrying delta comes in "E" type.
Delta type "A" is for master data!!
Hope this helps!!
Cheers,
