Hello All,

I have a network activity on which some materials are attached.

When i try to release that activity, system shows error message

Item  0400 BTM15435 ....Shortage 1.00 PC

Operation is not released due to missing material availability

Activity 0070 network 98123450 Release not allowed

This material is attached to the activity with procurement type PReq + Reservation for WBS Element.

PR and PO is created through CJ20N.

However material is still not released because of the above error

HI,

As per standard sap material release strategy as below:

1User decides on release if parts are missing
2Release permitted despite missing parts
3No release if parts are missing

you need to change your configuration as per requirement. because system check material availability befor order releasing.

go though the path - SPRO->PS->Material->Availability Check->Define Checking Control

Hello All,

below is more information on the issue

on OPJK, we could see that for plant and network type combination, availability check is set.

Field Release material #    3  # No release if parts are missing

As this field is set to 3.. system is correct showing error while release as part is missing

However my concern is how to ask user to build the stock now so that the activity get released.

Also procurement type is Pr+ reservation for WBS element, So ideally the material is yet to be procured so what is the reason system checks the availability before release?

Please suggest

Hi Madhusudan,

I assume that this is Project stock material and not inventory item.

Items tagged with Q stock directly creates PR rather than looking into availability of material because it was reserved for particular WBS/SO.

Even if you build the stock that should't be a project stock rather it would be plant stock (inventory item).

You can change the config settings in OPJK as

Release Material - 2 - Release permitted despite missing parts and hope that would help you to overcome the present issue.

I will answer this question from a logical point of view. You would have chosed the option of PR/Reservation creation as "From Release". One more thing is that the material is a stock material. Moreover you yourself have mentioned that the setting in OPJK wont allow you to release if there is a part missing. Base on all these settings if you release the activity system will create a PR or a Reservation. Now, since there is no material in stock system would not be able to create any of these and hence it is prohibiting the release.

As indicated in the posts above, its upto you to decide whether you need to change the configuration or build up the stock. As per the process, i would suggest you to build up the stock and then see whether the system allows you to release the activity.

Hi Gokul,

I have queston here, from Madhusudan's thread it was clear its Project stock.

How it is possible to build up the stock (project) not clear. If its a inventory he can build up but not project stock.

Externally procured against Q stock does not look into availability rather skips availability check of material in inventory whenever new requirement generated in the system and creates new PR for procurement initiation.

Don't misunderstand me curious to know what do you mean.
