VBAK-AUTLF changed after sales order creation

Former Member

Hello Experts,

I have the following issue that was raised by the user.

User says that the system is allowing partial delivery even though VBAK-AUTLF has been checked. I looked up the document changes and found that the VBAK-AUTLF was not checked initally at the time of the order creation and was changed to checked after two months. - Could this be the reason that partial delivery was allowed by the system? Or could there be another potential reason.

Please share your ideas.

Thank you,

Nathan

Hi Visman,

You are right, once the Complete delivery is checked before performing delivery transaction you cannot make Partial deliveries as it applys to all Items

So Siva, as you are saying complete delivery can be checked anytime before delivery and system enables this order not to be delivered partially? So, it does not have to be checked initially  while creating the sales order? - In our case it was checked (as I mentioned) two months after the initial creation of the sales order.

Hi Visman,

As Siva said, once the Complete delivery is checked before performing delivery transaction you cannot make Partial deliveries.

There is no such rule that you perform some part of the delivery and then mark the check box sales order is Complete Delivery.

Please tell the user that if you ask anyone to do certain things now and then after some-days not to do the same thing which he/she earlier did.

Now you can say that he/she does not do certain things which they are bound to do.

System is nothing but performing the activities which we tell it. Plz understand your user.

Thanks,

Suman

Suman, Thank you for replying.

I think I should make myself clear a bit more on this so that you can understand and provide me the answer:

Here the issue is not that user did anything that they should have or not have done. And me, as well as the user is aware that and is of the impression that once the complete delivery is checked, system should automatically prevent any partial delivery.

But the issue here is that even though the complete delivery was checked on the sales order, system still allowed processing of the delivery even when some items were missing for delivery (which is kind of partial delivery). This is the issue we are trying to find out why it happened. That was when I look up the changes history in the sales order and found out that the complete delivery check was only done after two months of creating the sales order after entering several items to the order and other changes were made. My questions are:

- Can the complete delivery check be made anytime before the delivery and will it still be valid for all items - is it not necessary to have it checked at the time of creation of the sales order itself?

- What if the complete delivery check was made on the sales order, after partial delivery of the first few items - will the complete delivery still be applicable to the rest of the first items?

- And more over, the reason for the system to behave this way of allowing partial delivery processing even when the complete delivery is checked.

Hope to get more perceptions.

Thank you,

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

The system to behave this way of allowing "Partial Delivery Processing" even when the "Complete Delivery " is checked.

Please see below settings used for "Complete Delivery Process".

There are two places where you can enter this indicator:

  • Customer master record
This indicator belongs to the shipping data for a customer within a sales area. You enter an X in the Complete Delivery field on the shipping screen of the customer master record. The indicator is copied into the order header.
  • Order header

You can also enter the indicator X in the Delivery field on the business data screen of the order header.

Please put some details what you have done on this query.

Thanks,

Naren

- Can the complete delivery check be made anytime before the delivery and will it still be valid for all items - is it not necessary to have it checked at the time of creation of the sales order itself?

Yes, it is not necessary to check it at the time of creation.

E.g. User can go in to the sales order via VA02 and activate the "Complete delivery" check box. Or deactivate.

- What if the complete delivery check was made on the sales order, after partial delivery of the first few items - will the complete delivery still be applicable to the rest of the first items?

Yes, it would be applicable for rest of the items (those are yet to be delivered)

E.g.

Sales order with 10EA in line item 000010, field Complete delivery is BLANK

Delivery created for 2EA.

Then in VA02, field Complete delivery is activated

Delivery quantity in VL01N (second delivery number) is 8EA, this is changed to 6EA; then system gives an error / warning message:

The customer has requested complete delivery

Message no. VL049

The above message is a warning or error message can be set up / configured.

Note: All above comments are based on tests done in IDES system.

Visman,

Could you please comment on why the user activated the checkbox "Complete delivery" after two months from creation of the sales order?

Thank you all.

TW - User marked this for the same reason to make the sales order delivery a single complete delivery. Thank you.

I am closing this as answered.
