MMNR: Error in creating group with external number range

Former Member

Hi,

I am trying on an ECC 6.0 EHP6 system to define the number ranges for each material type via transaction code MMNR (SPRO path: IMG → Logistics - General → Material Master → Basic Settings → Material Types → Define Number Ranges for Each Material Type).

The issue faced is that although groups with internal number ranges are properly created, those that need to be assigned to external number ranges are not created! In addition, even though the group in this scenario (external numbering) is not created, I can normally see the number range in the list.

I've also tried to run report “RSSNR0T1” (object “MATERIALNR”), in SE38, for consistency check and repair of number range intervals. I resolved the inconsistencies, but the problem is still apparent.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any related SAP notes, so any help would be highly appreciated!

Hi Athanasios,

Implement these 2 notes:1765341 and 1774625 .

For me now the problem is solved (my problem was for internal number range) but I hope that will solve also your problem.

I confirm that by applying SAP Notes 1765341 and 1774625, the issue is resolved.

A characteristic change, after applying the SAP Notes, is that the flag for indicating the number range as external (when creating a new group) is now enabled when entering the screen and there is no need to first click on the "Insert Line (F6)" button.

Hi Athanasios,

Implement the note: 1746507 (valid since 26.07.2012)

Bijay Kumar Barik and viktor gabriel, unfortunately your advice did not solve the problem.

viktor gabriel, I implemented SAP Note 1746507 (image attached), along with its prerequisite notes, with no luck.

I have uploaded a video illustrating the issue I face:

Yes, you are right. I did only one test and the group was successfully created (only first one), but now still not working. I am still searching for a solution and if I will find it I will inform you also.

I was able to create a few groups somehow after that because I really needed them for some tests and you can try, at least as a temporary solution (maybe will work, maybe not).

In your movie at  00:30 (second) you are pushing the back button. Instead try using cancel button to exit transaction (after you save of course). You will be ask if you want to cancel and chose YES.

For me worked sometimes (in this moment is not working). So you can try this only as temporary solution (if you have to solve this and you have no time to wait).

I am waiting for a answer from SAP (from them I have also note 1746507 but it seems that this does not solve the problem) .

If you solve it before, please inform me also.

Thanks,

Viktor

Thanks for your instant reply.

I've already tried the alternative you suggested (pushing the cancel instead of the back button) before and after the implementation of SAP Note 1746507. However, it doesn't solve the problem.

You can also check the result of the three programs (RSSNR0T1, NK_CHECK_OBJECT, NK_CHECK_INTERVALS) on the image below, showing that there are not any inconsistencies.

The image that was included in post 13596770 seems to be corrupted for an unknown reason, so (just for reference) I attach the image again.

First of all I would like to thank you both for your instant replies!

I apologize for my delayed answer, but I didn't have access to the community network the previous days. In addition, I will have access to the client's system from the beginning of next week in order to test any proposed solutions.

However, I would like to inform you that I have created number ranges for material types several times in the past, so I know the procedure that needs to be followed.

In case it wasn't clear at my initial message, I do not get any error messages upon the creation of the number range. The issue occurs when I create a new group and assign to it an external number range. At this scenario, the group is not created (it cannot be seen), while the number range is normally displayed in the list with the number ranges!

I suppose that the only supplementary thing I can provide, is a video of the procedure that is followed, showing that groups with internal number ranges are created as expected, in contrast to groups with external number ranges that are not created.

Make sure that tables NRIV, TNRGT and T134M have corresponding values.

if you search with  RSSNR0T1 for SAP notes, then you can find 8 notes, among them a relativly new note 1695600 with a new check report NK_CHECK_INTERVALS.  (however, all a valid to be read to understand the general problematic with the number ranges)

Thank you for your reply but, as I mentioned at my initial post, although I searched for SAP notes I didn't manage to find a document that solves my issue.

Just for reference, those notes that are more relevant are: 1695600, 545211 and 11294. In addition, thread 3234802 in the forum seems to be similar.

As a temporary solution, I just created manually the number ranges (for each material type) in the respective tables. In case the number ranges are not properly transferred between clients, I will refer back by providing a video capture of the steps that are followed, so as to see that although I do not get an error message, the group with the external number range is not created.

Hi,

As I understand you are able to maintain the internal number range of material type but not able to set External numbering for material type/material types.

First find out "Number range group text" for External number range!

Delete numbers from "Number range group text" for external numbering which you have now in the system and save.

Now set new number range for external numbering with t.code:MMNR

In the Menu -- > Click Group --- > maintain----> again click Group --->insert

Next Screen---define

Number range group text {ZE }

From Number ----A-------and TO Number--ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ-----

( here enter your numbering as External)

AND

now double click "your favorable material type " and select check box of your "Number Range Group text ZE"and click Element/Group in the Application Bar ( you can see your your favorable material type  is assigned to Number Range Group text ZE) and Save.

Hi Athanasios,

Can you add a screen shot of the error message and the error message number, the MNNR screen of your setup, and MM01 screen of the Material number you are creating.

Thx
