I have a 64 bit Windows 7 PC with Crystal Reports installed. This has been working ok, but recently screen has locked up as soon as Crystal is opened. You cannot click anywhere or close or minimise the screen. Only by ending the crw process can I get back to the desktop. This will sit there for around 15 minutes before springing back into life, I am them able to connect to my SQL database and run reports normally.
I have tried repairing, uninstalling and re-installing the software and using a different user profile on the PC but continually see this issue.
I look forward to your prompt response, thanks
Steve
Hi Steve,
So, when you start Crystal Reports, it doesn't let you do anything for around 15 minutes right?
Maybe, it's trying to connect to the Internet to get updates and fill up the start page.
Please try these steps:
1) Go to start > regedit > HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports
On the right-hand panel, you should find 'DisableCheckForUpdates'. Set it to '1'. Restart CR and see if this helps
2) Next, browse through HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\Crystal Reports\Start Page
On the right-hand panel, you should find 'Show Online Resources'. Set it to 'No'.
Restart CR and see if this helps
