My company wants to add credit card and Paypal as payment methods in Accounts Payable? Is this possible and if so, how do I configure this?

Dear,

I am SAP consultant in a multinational company.Did you do it finally?

We want to integrate SAP with Paypal to make payments because most of our vendors only are using paypal account(or are more familiar to use it), and we want to give them a second choice to receive our payments.

We have heard and read something related to XiPAy, that links SAP to Paypal to make payments.

Regarding to Master Data we have clear that we will have to create another field called "Paypal Id" in the vendor Master Data where we will have to write the email account related to the paypal account and select as sensitive in case it changes. As well we will have to control that when a Payment method Paypal (We will customize that) is chosen, "Paypal Id" for the vendor will be mandatory.

The process will be like SAP-PAypal (XiPay)-Vendor Bank. We know that we process a payment in SAP in created a file, that will be XML, which is the format accepted by XiPAy. Do you know if we received a file back to SAP as it has been done successfully?

Our client is doing around 12000 payments/month to the vendors....Any idea about bank reconciliation?

Doe this implementation affects in some way to house banks and payment cockpit? how? what should be taken into account?

I apologize for the inconvenience.

I look forward to hearing from you very soon.

Thank you very much in advance.

Yours Sincerely,

Javier,

I'm intrigued by your response to Alicia's question about using PayPal as a payment method in Accounts Payable.  Paymetric's integration to PayPal via our XiPay solution is generally only used on the Accounts Receivable side to collect payments on Sales Orders or as payment for Open Items on a Customer's Account.

However, in your response you propose the following:

The process will be like SAP-PAypal (XiPay)-Vendor Bank. We know that we process a payment in SAP in created a file, that will be XML, which is the format accepted by XiPAy. Do you know if we received a file back to SAP as it has been done successfully?

Generally XiPay is only leveraged with Web Service calls to make real-time payments.  I suppose you could call PayPal to post the vendor payments as a CREDIT, but that doesn't seem like the ideal approach.  However, that does seem to be in line with Alicia's question:

My company wants to add credit card and Paypal as payment methods in Accounts Payable? Is this possible and if so, how do I configure this?

Alicia - I don't believe a processor would allow a Merchant to post a CREDIT to a vendor's credit card in order to effectively make a payment to that vendor.  Is that what you were proposing or have I misinterpreted your question?

What may be more appropriate is to let SAP generate the XML file that Javier mentions and then transmit that file to PayPal directly for processing.  Or to your House Bank for processing the payments to be sent to PayPal.  That method wouldn't use XiPay, but could use XiTransfer to facilitate a secure transfer of the file from the SAP environment to the bank.  This approach would be particularly useful if you were tokenizing card numbers or bank account numbers in your SAP database and wanted to transfer that information in the file without having to detokenize and expose the RAW account numbers in your own environment.

In any case, Alicia I'd love to learn more about what was behind your questions and if you eventually came up with a solution.
