Multiple Production Orders

We've a v linear manufacturing process. 2 operations for mixing, one for drying & last for the furnace. Is there a way in PP (like the collective orders) which can do the same thing as Collective Orders (auto GR & GI) across the multiple levels of the BOM. We would like to create one Order at the Finished level (Furnace) & to avoid having to manually create Orders & going through the GR/GI/UD process at each level. Is it possible??

Hello Andy

If you do not require manage semifinished products, you can model your process in one BOM level and one task list with 4 operations/phases.

Best Regards.

Hi Andy,

You may continue using the multi-level BOM, on the top level enter the components which have BOMs as phantom assemblies.
Create a routing with the 4 operations, where the last operation "furnace" is a milestone operation with all components allocated to it.

Then for the auto GR/GI by the time of the confirmation you will need 2 things:
1. Activate backflush on MRP2 view of the components (261)
2. A control key with auto GR (for example PP03) in the milestone operation. (for 101)

This way you will only need to create a single production order which will contain all components and all 4 steps of the production process.

Hello Mate,

1. I will need to inventorize the output product of the intermediate 3 operations (2 mixing, 1 Drying), i.e. will need to post 101 movements for them. So, creating ONE multi-level BOM will not serve my purpose, unless there is a way to receive the intermediate products into inventory

2. The milestone operation function will only help me with doing the 101 for the product at the Furnace.

What I would like to achieve is more like the WIP batch concept, where I could show 101 at Operation confirmation for Mixing & drying before receiving the final product into inventory at the Furnace level. WIP batch also has a limitation though.

Cheers
