Dear Viral,

It's a very difficult question and difficult to answer.

The previous comments are all very valid and choosing the area you have most experience and what your existing background and education dictates is a good move. However, it's important that you choose the domain that is most interesting to you. If you decide on a module which doesn't really "get you going", don't go that way. You need to be passionate about your topic.

I can give you an idea of the market we're seeing. I'm working in a SAP consulting and recruitment business dealing with talent management for the last many years, and the requirements and challenges our client-base present us with are very diverse.

I believe Dinesh advice is very good. There's a lot of oppertunities in the scope of ABAP out there. Pure technical roles, techno-functional and functional. Looking ahead we're looking at an increased need for integration and interface specialists who can communicate with several platforms. So, the ABAP skills required has changed since the early days and we're seeing cross-experience in multiple programming languages these days. Main two being ABAP and JAVA (which will increase to the fact most Apps on smartphones are developed in Java). With the mobility wave going on that would be a good investment.

Another area to involve yourself in is BI Analytics. Business Intelligence and the entire suite that follows is always going to be a demanding area.

This is just a few ideas. The core areas of the Business Suite (Financials, Controlling etc.) will never become irrelevant, but getting engaged with more edge products would be my current recommendation.

I hope that helps.

Please do not choose the module based on what market dictates.

Choose with your education, experience and background.

Dear Viral,

Choose your module very carefully as this will shape up your future.

If you have keen interest in SAP FICO then go for it but remember that you need to work really hard as you are not exposed to the Commerce and Financial concepts which are the building blocks for this module.

Rather in my opinion i think it would be suitable for you if you will go for SAP ABAP as it has a vast scope.

It has new advancements like EP,Web Dynpro , Workflow , as well as you can also gain Functional knowledge and become Techno-Functional.

Dear Viral,

Since you are an IT graduate, you are eligible for ABAP module, for FICO you need to have either commerce background or finance experience of at least three years. As far as opportunities are concerned i think all SAP modules have equal weightage. and once you through with your ABAP certification and join some or the other ompany, you can easily switch to other modules as well. it will be techno functional kind of a job which by any means will be benefitial for you.

Dear Anita,

For doing certification some prerequisites are there, Also if you have done training from an SAP Education partner only then you are eligible to go for certification.

Hi Vivek Vasu,

Thanks for reply....

I have done SAP ABAP  from an institute, not a partner of SAP....

Hi Anita,

If you are in India, the certification policy says that you must have 2+ years of implementation experience and working with SAP Partner.

Please contact local SAP Education Team, they would be able to advise you whether you eligible to write the certification or not.

The best module for you is the one you learned and studied.

Dear Viral,

How can anyone say which is the best module in SAP. All modules has to work together to get the desired output, that why its called integrated business process.

Any ERP is the realisation of business process across various industry into a structured, professional form by adopting the best practices in the field.

You will have to first decide which is your area of intrest and then based on that start. Since you have an IT background BASIS, ABAP, BI will be suiting more for you.

First you have to decide whether you want to focus towards the technical side or the functional side.

Being an IT graduate SAP BI or SAP ABAP would be more suitable for you.........

FICO is more suitable for Commerce Graduates. (BCom / CA).......
