can someone send documentation on Free characteristics.

and aslo tell me why and when they r used.

Hello vijayanti

You define a query in the BEx Query Designer, in which you select InfoObjects or reusable structures for an InfoProvider and specify the view of the data (query view) by distributing them to filters, rows, columns, and free characteristics

Hi,

Free characteristics are involved in the query defintion to have the OLAP features for those fields which need not to be in the rows or columns but for relative runtime drilldown and other features.

Free characteristics are those which you need to be shown at a later point in the query and not on the first go.

They might be possible perspectives the user might need but not always....
