Dear All,

We have a requirement wherein we want to edit the datasource 2LIS_02_ITM, such that the lower case/uppercase flag is 'ON'.(Currently, it is unchecked).

Please refer to the attached document.

Could you please let me know how can this be done?

Your help would be highly appreciated.

Hi Prerna,

Its true that you should be cautious in making changes to standard infoobjects.  Sorry for not mentioning it in my earlier post.  I am not sure about the error you are facing but please have a look at this document.

Hi Prerna,

Are you trying to edit datasource or field value that goes into BW through this datasource?

If you want to change the value of field to uppercase thats possible by ABAP routines.

Can you elaborate? Additionally i dont see any attached document.

Hello Hariharan,

Thank you for the reply.

I want to edit a field of this datasource, IDNLF(Vendor Mat. No.).

We want the lowercase/uppercase flag checked.

Please have a look at the below screenshot.

Is this possible through ABAP?

Hi,

This Lower Case property is defined at Data Domain level. If it is changed for one it will reflect for all places where that domain is been used. Even it is standard data source it is advisable.

Any how you can define this Case Sensitivity at Info object level right.

Hi Prerna,

You can enable the "Lower case" option for the IOBJ corresponding to this field (IDNLF-0AB_VENDMAT).

If this indicator is set, the system differentiates between lowercase letters and capital letters when you use a screen template to input values. If this indicator is not set, the system

converts all the letters into capital letters when you use a screen template to

input values. During the load process or in the transformation, no conversion

occurs. This means that values with lowercase letters cannot be updated to an

InfoObject that does not allow lowercase letters.

Hello Vijay, Hello Anjali,

Thank you so much for your valuable reply.

By infoobject you mean infoobject corresponding to IDNLF right? 0VEND_MAT.

Does this mean we can check the 'lowercase; option in this infoobject?

If this is done, will this change be applicable only to this field(IDNLF) or for all the fields of the datasource?

Thank you once again for your valuable inputs.

Prerna,

Obviously it is applicable only that infoobject associated to that field.

Can i know that do you want to change for all fields of specifically few.

Take care when you are changing business content infoobjects. If it is mandatory requirement go with Customized infoobjects.

I suggest you to use below formula while mapping field with infoobject.  It is for Case conversion. Better avoid changing business content objects or creating all new info objects.

Hello Vijay,

Thank you so much for your reply.

Yes, I agree it is not advisable to change business content infoobjects.

However, in our case, we are getting an error in this field(0VEND_MAT) at PSA level.

Hence it was suggested to change the field in datasource.

Can I still use this formula you suggested to resolve the issue?

Prerna,

Use it at transformation level/rules level and test the data.

Hello Vijay and Anjali,

Thank you for the guidance and support.

We are facing an error at PSA stage itself when data is extracted from this DS.

Our counterparts suggested we change the setting for lowercase in the I.O 0VEND_MAT.

Hence, I thought better to research on this topic.
