Remove Duplicate Fields (not rows) in Report

Hello,

I’m new to Crystal Reports. At this point I have built a few reports by writing a SQL script and adding it to the report as a command using the Database Expert. So far this has worked for me as things were pretty straight forward. But now I’m building a report and I’m stuck on how to accomplish what I need to do. I don’t think I can do it using a SQL query and assume it needs to be done within CR.

Basically I’m looking to remove duplicate fields (not rows) in the report. For example a loan can have more than one owner (co-signers) but all the owners are assigned to the same loan number. There can be a various number of names attached to the loan. In that case I want to see the names attached to the loan but do not want to see the other information (date, product, rate, etc…) more than once per loan. My current results look like this:

App Date Loan # Borrower Product Loan Amt Rate

9/19/12 123456 John Doe 10 Year Fixed $200,000 4.500

9/19/12 123456 Jane Doe 10 Year Fixed $200,000 4.500

9/19/12 123456 Bob Doe 10 year Fixed $200,000 4.500

9/01/12 789456 Pete Moss 5 Year ARM $300,000 5.000

8/31/12 159357 John Q. Public 30 Year Fixed $265,000 3.750

8/31/12 159357 Mary Public 30 Year Fixed $265,000 3.750

I want the results to look like this:

App Date Loan # Borrower Product Loan Amt Rate

9/19/12 123456 John Doe 10 Year Fixed $200,000 4.500

Jane Doe

Bob Doe

9/01/12 789456 Pete Moss 5 Year ARM $300,000 5.000

8/31/12 159357 John Q. Public 30 Year Fixed $265,000 3.750

Mary Public

The only loan information that is duplicated is the names attached to the loan unless of course there is only one name for the loan.

Any help with this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

Dave
