How does system recognize changes for delta?

Hai all,

If there are invoices in R/3 and are loded to BW. We load them first initializing delta. Now for recording changes in these invoices, deltas are used.

My question is:

How does the system know that an invoice has been changed?

Is it merely based on that the system see any change(whether its small or big) in an invoice or is it only when there are changes in KEY FIGURES?

I have some invoices in R/3 that are changed and I am loading them to BW. The changes in invoices are date fields and some data fields but not in key figures. When I am trying to load delta, the system says no records changes since the delta initialization... even after 2 days after the invoices change.

Can somebody please help me with this?

Thanks a lot.

Hi Visu,

Could you tell us about the Datatargets and data sources you are using..Is it standard ones or Generic ones..

If generic ones then you need to check which field you are using as delta..

It might be possible that you are using one field as delta and you are changing the record based on another field..So it would be great ,if you could say us about your Data targets and Data sources..

Assign points . upto your satisfaction level..

Thanks everybody. I am using 0FI_AR_3 as my datasource and the target as an ods named ODSREP. My problem is that the delta says there are no new documents since the recent delta. But I am sure there are changes. The changes are in the data fields but not in key figures. SO, I am wondering if deltas are pickedup based on the key figure changes.

Thanks.

Hi Visu,

From what I have seen, not any change to a invoice will cause a delta record to be created. One of the rare changes that I do know that will create a delta record is to post a clearing document for that invoice. Try this and you should see a delta record.

Hi Visu,

Can we know what is the Data Source you are using? Is it a standard or customized? Standard Data Sources have a complicated design to collect DELTAs. Generic Data Sources are normally based to Timestamp, Calendar Day or Numeric Pointer such as Transaction Numbers.

I think your Data Source is a custom version because normally, Standard Data Sources are ok in collecting DELTAs. (<i>That is assuming it is properly SETUP</i>)

visu,

Every invoice would have a changed on date field or in some cases even a timestamp. The delta is based on that.

When you change an invoice or create one - you will get a field populated called changed on and changed by which give the details of changed records for delta.

Hi,

There is a document in

http://service.sap.com/bi under the tab INFOINDEX. The title of the document is "New Update Methods in Logistics Extraction with PI2003.1 2.x/3.x (ppt)". This tells about the DELTA handling of LO.

Hope this helps.

GPK.
