What is the version of BO you are using ?

If you are using BO 3.1 collect the sofa logs and the mdx statement as per SAP notes herewith

1260004 - How is SOFA / MDA logging activated in Business Objects XI 3.1 on Windows

1380517 - How to Capture Sofa Log in 64 bit Windows

1660002 - How to activate sofa logs in a Unix Environment in BOE XI 3.1?

apply the one related to the BO O/S you are using.

Run then the mdx statement in transaction mdxtest.  If it errors with the same error there is a problem with BW and I suggest to open a ticket with BW support.

      Hi Waqar

I have to say that if you use BO XI 3.1 without any Service Pack considering that we are now on SP5 I strongly recommend to test with the latest Service pack.

I assume that the expression parsed ok when you check the universe integrity and that the problem is in webi when using the object.  The issue might be linked to a product defect hence the test with the latest service pack.

If you still have the issue with SP5 then do the test in mdxtest to see if the issue comes from BW or from BO.

    Hi Waqar,

Unfortunately the XML you can actually use in a universe on top of BW is very limited.

This is because you are not talking native to an OLAP database, but to the Bex application engine.

You will want to create count you want in the Bex query as a key figure and not coded in the XML.

That way also Bex has the option to do this calculation in the most performant way.

    Hope this helps,
