system copy for BOBJ 4.0

Hello Experts,

  We would like to do a system copy for BOBJ 4.0. We are on MSSQL environment and running on sp2 patch 11

  Please advise on how to proceed with this

  Also please note we don't have LCM installed in our BOBJ landscape yet

If you have SAP Bi4.0 you have LCM, did you specifically unselected LCM during installation ?

LCM is integrated part of BI4 installation.

There is no other process to move content from QA to PROD or PROD TO QA besides LCM. LCM is the tool you need to use.

You cannot use Upgrade management tool for this task as it cannot import content from one BI4 system to the other.

You can theoretically use Federation, but it is not designed for that

I have completed with fresh installation of BO4.0 SP04 similar to existing system.

Now what are the steps I have to follow to copy the data from existing system to new system.

As suggested by Dennis use the Promotion management tool to migrate your objects.

To know more about Promotion management go through the administrators guide available at http://help.sap.com/

You can use Promotion Management to move all our reports, universes to new system.

Hi Suman,

I assume you are looking for backup process in BusinessObjects.You need to back up

• CMS tables and Audit tables 
• File Repository Server 
• Database Connections 
• Custom applications (java/.Net code)

Also you need to decide the backup frequency as well.

Actually we planned system copy from BW Production to BW Quality System,

and the same BOBJ as well.

So, now my question is the best method to copy BOBJ contents from Production to Quality system
