Custom XSLT for Exporting Crosstab to XML

I have a crosstab in my report header that I am exporting to XML.
When I open the XML file I find the rows from my crosstab have been stored as columns.  This makes it impossible for me to map the table rows in Excel.

Does anyone know of any user guides, blogs, or report samples that deal with exporting crosstabs to XML?

Any guides on how to create a custom XSL for a crosstab?

If your intended target is just MS Excel then it may be easier to just use the export to Excel (Data Only) option rather than XML. Otherwise you will have to build an XSLT to turn the XML output into an Excel-friendly format.

We briefly looked at the XML export from a crosstab for other reasons but abandoned it fairly quickly. One thing we did notice was that the column header text from the crosstab only output in the XML if there was a numeric value associated to it. So if you suppressed the sub-total column for a grouping level on the columns then the text for that grouping would not appear in the XML.

Thanks for the reply Byron.

I want to export to XML so that my Xcelsius dashboard can pick up the new XML file.  Right now I have to export CR to Excel Data Only and use the Excel file to create my XML file. . . manual process with too many steps.  I want to schedule the CR to do this.

I realize I need to build/implement a custom XSLT . . . but I don’t know the steps to do this.

Are there any step-by-step guides or other documentation out there on how to do this??
