Hi all,

i wanna know if i can load Transctional Data from ( 3.X tansc. Data source ) to the info object ? as master data ?

how ? will Transformation and DTP will work ? or i will neec to create update rule ?

Also, this Transctional DS is already in production and loading Transction data thru Update rule to DSO. will this be an issue?

Thanks

Hi Sandy,

Its possible to store data in Info Object . That IO is known as Master Data Infoobject.

There will be tranformation/update rule all what you have in while laoding data to cube from DS.

You can load the data through transactional DS but is it really significant as type of master data is totally what we have transaction data.

As given above master data will be like Custome master data (Cust no, name , address etc)

Thanks,

Yes, You can load from Transactional datasource to a Master data infoobject. You can create Transformation & DTP.

Yes, this will be an issue if you are expecting different kind of data to this new infoobject. I suggest you create a copy of your DS in R/3 and replicate it to BW and create TR and DTP.

Hi,

Your basic idea on Master and Transaction data is correct. Both are different in terms of data nature.

Transaction data contains KPI's and the corresponding master data information.

Ex: Net Rev : Rs.10000( KPI), Order No.( It's not KPI), Region( It's not KPI)  etc.. will be in a single record

The general Master Data of a project would be Customer Master, Employee Master, Material Master etc..which is entirely independent of transaction data.

Hope you understand the difference.

You can load the master data info. which comes along with transaction data( refer my Example) to any master data Infoobject(Atributes) by mapping those field to the corresponding field in your datasource. Remember, you are not mapping KPI filed to your Master data infoobject. This way, you can load to Masterdata infoobject from a trnsaction datasoruce..
