Hello Experts,
We are upgrading our BW NW7.01 system to NW7.3. In the Downtime EXECUTION phase we are getting below error. But the thing is system was not even down.. but still we restarted it manually and system is running fine... but we are not able to move further in upgrade phase, getting the below error.
Checks after phase MAIN_NEWBAS/STARTSAP_NBAS were negative! Last error code set: Unknown macro 'FN_WORKPRC'<br/> System start failed"
Also, attaching the logs for your reference with this message. Please let me know if have any solution/suggestion for this.
Thanks
Mousam
Gaurav,
For me it was an issue with using a virtual host and SUM not populating the correct value. I had to work through it with an SAP incident and ultimately talked with a developer who said that it was an issue with the SUM utility and would have to be patched. I'm using SP9 Patch 4
Thanks,
Rob

Thanks Rob,
Your solution will definitely help others in future under this error ticket.I also contribute under this ticket for others & recommends sometime this error may happen just because of linking of files with old UID and this causes failed start of sap system with error "FAIL: HTTP error, HTTP/1.1 401 Unauthorized " under system start log files.
For resolution Stop SAP, kill all remaining processes, especially sapstartsrv, Start SAP or try with soft restart of SAP box and re execution the phase.
Thanks,

Hi Mousam,
To strengthen issue is with SAPup only i recommend you to navigate SAP Note 1771945 which points
" bug in SAPup release lmt_006 version 46.000 compile time 19:09:17 Sep 9 2012 ".
And for this suggested in Note
Resolution
This issue is resolved in the latest SUM version SUM10SP05_6-20006540.SAR.
In case you have already started the upgrade with an older version of SUM and you are already at the very end phases. The technical upgrade is done, only the evaluation needs to be done.
Hope this SAP note helps you and after upgrade SAPup may your issue be eliminated.
Thanks,
Gaurav Rana

Hi Mousam,
As per your log message
1EETQ399 SYSTEM MANAGER: Instance apss119 01 not found
2EETQ354 Starting system failed, rc="-1"
4 ETQ010 Date & Time: 20120905170329
1EETQ399 Last error code set is 'Unknown macro 'FN_WORKPRC'
System start failed'.
Try to download updated SAPup file for SUM 1.5.2 from the portal and also compare sizes of new & old SAPup files well and just give a try.
Regards,
Gaurav

Hi Mousam,
I would recommend to stop the upgrade, stop all services, reboot the machine and then start it up and repeat the phase. Are you using the latest sapup patches?

Paul
