Is there anyway that we can avoid using the PAS database?

With much reduced staffing we no longer have the capacity to maintain the over complicated PAS database. We are currently still using SSM 7.5. Is there any way that we can run this from an excel based database and is there a quick way to download the data stored in PAS into excel?

By the way there is no tag for SSM - SAP Strategy Manager so had to choose Business Objects Performance Management - otherwise I could not submit the question. Please re-direct if you know the correct tag
