Prevent usage of "preferred inspection type" flag

We are using enhancement QAAT0001 in our inspection process. In order not to implement a logic to consider the "preferred inspection type" flag, we are searching for a possibility to prevent the user setting this flag in the material master. Of course we could just delete the content of the field in the user exit, but if there is a possibility to ensure that it can't be used this would be even better.

Does anyone have an idea how to achieve this? As the inspection dialog on the material is a subwindow of the material master I am not sure whether there is a possibility of inactivating this field.

    Hi Martin,

    1. I really don't have an idea under what circumstances this need arose, but how would you be tackling with scenarios where more than one inspection types need to be customized and to be assigned to same inspection lot origin?
    2. How system would decide which one is preferred for lot creation if multiple inspection types (of the same origin) are assigned in to material master?
    3. What logic you have planed to incorporate at the time of lot creation using QAAT0001

You want to restrict ticking on preferred inspection type check box for few users or functionality as a whole you want to deactivate? Possibly you might have thought of using transaction variant where you can hide selected fields.

    • Hi Anand,

      our logic is:

      • Always use the default inspection type (variant 01) for an inspection lot origin.
      • Exceptions (variant ID 02 or higher) are identified by the movement type and are handled in the user exit´╗┐.

It is not wanted that user can "override" this logic by setting the preferred inspection flag (we cannot restrict this based on authorizations). This ensures a harmonized and consistent inspection process.

The preferred flag field should not be available to any user. Due to the fact that the material master is also accessed by some special routines I am afraid that using a transaction variant might cause additional effort in modifying these programs as well.

--> where exactly would you be able to modify this screen? I have been searching at the material master and at the QM inspection setup, but so far I have not been able to find this screen.
