MRP Area Deactivation.

Hi All,

Need help in solving the problem.

Client has activated MRP area for storage location.

After activating the MRP area the MRP run does not consider sub-contracting stock for planning.

Earlier the stock was shown as unrestricted stock and was part of MRP run.

Now Purchase requisitions are created for the requirement.

Example : 10 pcs spare parts.

out of which 5 are in unrestricted

and 5 are in subcontracting.

If new requirement is created a PR is generated for the same, but client does not want the same.

I tried them to explain that its a standard behaviour after activating MRP area, but they want subcontractor stock to be shown as unrestricted stock and considered in planning run.

I have also tried to implement BADI MD_MD_SUBCONT_LOGIC but did not help.

Now client wants to deactivated the MRP area until they find a proper solution, please guide what can be done for this.

If MRP area is deactivated at client level what will be the impact and procedure to do so.

Thanks in Advance.

Regards.

Ashwin.

Ashwin,

I suggest you pursue a solution within the MRP area. Material Requirements Planning for MRP Areas cannot be deactivated.

Hi

From the details above it is not clear why they wanted to implement MRP Area and hence the impact of deactivating cannot be assessed as such. However, I guess (please correct me if I am wrong) that your client wanted to manage the specific Storage Location stock separately. For this you can manage through MRP4 Sto location MRP views by maintaining MARD-DISKZ field. However, this would require Big maintenance of Material Masters individually and yes you have to manage the MRP at the specific Storage Location on Re-Order Point and Replenishment level (and not discrete). Please check and revert back

Please check and let us know the reason for creating the MRP Area

Hi,

As per their business requirement they wanted to plan some components separately for storage location hence activation of MRP AREA for storage location, but at the same time they want to consider the Sub-contractor stock for planning.

Hi,

In your initial statement, you have mentioned that you were successful in considering the Vendor Stock in your MRP. (Earlier the stock was shown as unrestricted stock and was part of MRP run). I am not sure in standard SAP this is possible.

However  if stock is not at vendor location and sub con PO is open then system will propose requirement and if you donot have stock enough to cover that requirement, MRP will create additional Coverage element (Planned Order or Purchase Requisition). This will create a situation of excess coverage element for the same dependent requirement (coming from the header of Sub Con Material). The option available here is to create a firm Planned Order or Purchase Requistion equal to the quantity of the Vendor stock though frankly this is not very good looking solution

I guess you have already checked the thread still if you have not refer to the thread below for more details:
