Can Not See Local Published Universe

Hey, In the Webi Rich Client running 4.0 I can't see the universe that I published to my local laptop.

I created the universe using Information Design Tool using an ODBC connection to a local Excel file.

I published that universe to the local directory that is defined in the Rich Client (under options). When I click on universe it makes me log on as 'standalone' .. then I get a blank screen.

When I use OPEN -> Files of type *.UNX -> navigate to the directory I see the universe, but when I try to load it I get the err:

Load Driver Call: Initialize (WIS 00000)" ?

There are no loops in my data foundation and the integrity check is fine as well.

Any help is appreciated.

Mike

Hi Mike,

When you publish the Universe to repository, your local copy will be not be copied instead moved to repository. You need to reimport them from repository to open them in IDT.

Mani,

Let me make sure I understand the process.

Using the IDT process as follows:

  1. create a connection
  2. create a foundation
  3. create a business layer
  4. r-click on the business layer and Publish -> Local Folder -> (Folder specified in the Rich Client)
  5. THIS STEP i dont understand ... r u saying import it back to the IDT?

What I want to do is now that the universe is "published" I want to go to the Webi Rich Client and use that universe in a report. When I exis the IDT and go to the Rich Client, click on a universe, logon as standalone ..... NO UNIVERSE

Thanks for your time.

Mike,

Let me clarify.

If you connect to Standalone mode, You will never connect to repository. (i.e.) You should have universe and Report together in your Local machine.

If you are connecting to repository(Enterprise,Windows AD,LDAP), Then you need to connect the repository copy of the Universe and Report.

As I already said in previous message, Whenever you export the universe, The physical .unv or .unx files will be moved to repository. as a result you cant open the report in Standalone mode. To overcome this try import the universe from repository and save it somewhere. Then try with standalone mode and repoint the report to refer local universe copy.

Hope you understand now.

Mani

Mani,

Thanks for the clarification. Maybe that's the problem I apparently don't have "localhost" configured.

Is this an install option that I missed? Can I config it manually?

You have to replace your Server name with the localhost. Could be your server Ip or BO node name.

And once "localhost" is recognized as a system, then I'll see "standalone" in the authentication pull down?

Maybe I needed something additional on the install?

I see this in the help doc related to Standalone Mode:

The middleware required to create and refresh local, unsecured documents with local, unsecured universes must be installed on the computer on which you run Web Intelligence Rich Client.

I'd also recommend you just to a default 'full install' of the Client Tools components, including all the data access packs (drivers) - see if that gets you moving forward

Hello,

Hope I'm not off-topic...

I installed BO 3.0 XI, and I want to use the WEBI rich client in stand alone mode with the universes provided on local machine in the Samples folder [ efashion, etc. ], but I can't reach them.

The Designer allows me to open and change these universes, but WEBI doesn't.

I tried to setup the default folder, to point to the universes folder in Samples folder, but it doesn't work,

Is there anything I do wrong?

Thanks in advance.

Can you kindly advise how or what you did on the "localhost" to resolve this issue. Preferably with step by step instructions.

I am having exactly the same problem

Hi Mike,

Login the Web Intelligence Rich Client with either offline mode or standalone mode.

Click on the gear icon from the right up corner and select Options.

Under Select default folders where you have  saved your Universe  in selection section and click Browser besides Universes.

Change the path to the location where you store the local universe files.

Hi Mike,

I have faced with this issue and here is the steps for fixing it:

1- Create a new blank project in IDT

2- Go to File--->Retrieve a Published Universe---->From a local folder

3- Navigate location where you had published your universe and click Finish

4- Open Webi Rich Client tool and click on Create New Webi document.

5- Select Universe under Choose a data source to create a document.

6- Now you should see your universe for picking and create a report against it

Although this is old post but I am sharing my experience of the same error "Load Driver Call: Initialize (WIS 00000)"  when I was trying to access my universe through Webi to build a report I got this error, while universe was working in UDT. I tried all the solutions which were provided in the scn but none of them works.

This error came when I reinstalled software (Webi Rich client and BI Server). So what I did was copied my universe and paste in following directory

C:\Documents and Settings\admin\Application Data\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Universes

Now it's working and there is no error "Load Driver Call: Initialize (WIS 00000)

Hope this will help some one.

Naeem,

You are a start. I had the same issue and when I placed the .unx file at the below location it worked. Path is exactly what you have mentioned, except that I have put in <User ID> so that anyone facing a similar issue can use their own User ID to determine where to place the file:

C:\Documents and Settings\<User ID>\Application Data\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Universes

Seems there must a setup somewhere which would be like the default location for all Standalone. I am absolutely new to this, will try and figure out...

This is the Registry Key:  (It's a Windows 7 SP1 x64)

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP BusinessObjects\Suite XI 4.0\default\Shared\General\Directories

Look for Universe and Universes values under that key.

Mine looks like this:

%USER_PROFILE_APP_DIR%\SAP BusinessObjects\SAP BusinessObjects Enterprise XI 4.0\Universes

In my case %USER_PROFILE_APP_DIR% maps to C:\Users\myusername\AppData\Roaming

Make sure that's a valid directory in your computer and that you have your universes "unx" files copied there.

Thank You ! Thank You ! Thank You !  I was not able to see my locally published universe when I was trying to create a new WebI document.  Once I copied my unx file to this location --- it now appears in the list of universes.

Hi, I just got the same error in Standalone UNV and Standalone Rich Client.

In some machines works and others doesn´t work.

I read a lot of treads about this error.

I will try with this solution.

Thank You.

Hi, as follow to my problem, it was produced by the use of 2 versión of the Rich Cliente (4.0 SP06 and 4.1 SP04).   The user was using an old versión, relative to the universe creation.  And produce a similar error message.

Thank You

You can check the proper folder on WebI options.

From Rich Client, before selecting any data source, click on tools, then options. The default folder is defined there.

Hi Mike,

Were you able to resolve this issue, I have a similar problem. I am trying to use HANA backend through a universe and published the universe locally. I get the same load driver call error. Do I HAVE to publish the universe on a CMS repository? Is there anyway I can publish the universe locally and still get access to the HANA tables and views?

I was using 14.0.4 build 770 on the IDT and Rich Client both.

I contacted SAP and they confirmed the problem and said that would put it in SP5

Hi,

Sp05 is out if you need to test it.   there is also up to Patch5.2 available.

This was NOT fixed in SP05.  There is now a note saying SP06 is the fix, which is unacceptable.
