Deactivate Application PW Explorer iPad 4.0.8

In the new version of Explorer for the iPad (4.0.8) there is new feature that requires users to create an application password.  IThe interesting thing about this application password is that you are not prompted to enter this password each time you execute the application, rather you must power down the device, power on the device, and then re-open the application to receive this prompt.  At any rate, my concern is that users will not like this new feature as it is another password that they will need to remember.  And it appears that if they forget the password an uninstall and re-install of the application will be required.

In the help for the application it states that admins can disable this prompt (See highlighted text below).  However, I am unable to find any documentation that says how to achieve this...Has anyone run into this yet?

Thank you!

Hi Josh,

You don't even have to shut off iPad to replicate this. When you double click home (or 3 finger swipe up) you get all the running apps and if you press and hold the Explorer app to wiggle and click the minus sign that will kill the app. Same effect.

OK so to turn the password prompting off run this URL in Safari:

sboexplorer://settings?use_password=0

Then just enter your password one last time.

Re-enable password:

sboexplorer://settings?use_password=1

BTW this is in the older SBO Explorer 4.0.6 guide.

Hi George,

Works like a charm.  I did have to re-add my connection information but I assume that is for security purposes...no biggie.

Thank you!

George,

I know this is an older post, but I'm trying to do this with the newest version of the Explorer app (4.1.11) and I'm having some trouble. Do you know if this is still the best way to disable the Application Password? It seems to wipe my connection every time that I close the app since I have disabled the application password.

Thanks,

Derek

Derek,

Disabling the application password is a BI Mobile Server setting.  Refer to the BI Mobile Server Deployment and Configuration guide on http://help.sap.com.
