Calendar Year- Fiscal Year Conversion

Dear Experts ,

Our business is currently on Calendar Year and would like to continue that till Dec 2012 , BUT starting April 1st 2013 they would like to switch to FY basis calling FY2013 ( which will be April 2013 - March 2014). They would like to close the 2012 books at the end of Dec 2012 and once in March 2013 . How do I accomplish below .

  1. 2012 Year end close should still be in Calendar Year 2012 , and what will be the best option to close for Jan 2013 - March 2013 without opening FY2013 and have shortened FY , if we have shortened FY in 2013 can that be called something different than FY2013 ( which actually should start from April 2013 to March 2014) ?
  2. Can we perform a Year end close once in Dec 2012 ( move balances and the rest and actually not close the CY ) and once in March 2013 by actually closing the Year 2012 in March 2013 ? If so what are the impacts we need to consider .

Scenario in detail :

Currently in Calendar Year 2012 ( Jan - Dec 2012) with Special periods given by SAP .

Moving to FY 2013 starting April 2013 ( which will be April 2013 - March 2014 ) and FY 2014 ( would be April 2014 - March 2015) .

How to define the Periods Jan 2013 - March 2013 in SAP by not considering under FY2013 .

Thanks so much in advance.
