Sequence of the supply function's getting triggered .

Hello All,

Please find the scenario below on supply function.

We have 1 parent node A and 4 child node's directly under the Parent Node.

We have 4 supply functions defined and they are set correspondingly to the 4 sub nodes.

Now the question is on context attribute change under Node A , will All the Four supplyfunction get triggered?

Will there be any sequece of the supply function getting called because , all the four nodes are placed directly under the parent node?(Here in our case we assume that all the four supply function are are not getting triggered also the sequence is not always same, we checked by debug point).

Awaiting answers to the above question.

Thanks and Regards,

Uvendu Bala

    Hi Uvendu,

Supply functions are called on-demand by the runtime and not in a particular order. So when a view is loaded that uses the attributes from context node "A" or node "A-1" or "A-4", only then will the supply function for the particular node be called. If node "A" is needed by the runtime, its supply function will be called, but that doesn't mean the supply functions of its child nodes will be called at that time.

What are you trying to achieve that the sequence of node initialization is important?

    Hello Amy,

    Thank you for your response.

The scenario is we have 1 Parent Node say Node A and there are 4 child nodes directly under it Node A -1, A-2, A-3 and A-4.

There is 1 supply function configured to Node A also there are 4 other supply function configured respectively to the 4 child nodes under Node A.

We have some attributes in Node A bound to the View UI also there attributes in the 4 Child nodes they are also bound to View UI.

Now my question is , If there is value change in the attribute of Node A will all the four supply function configured against the 4 Child nodes get triggered?

    • Hi Uvendu,

Quick answer is, no. A supply function executes only when a node is initialized.

You can check this answer by setting a break-point in each of the five supply functions (Node A, Node A-1, ..., Node A-4) and watching the sequence of calls.

Since your view contains UI elements bound to each of the five nodes, each of the five supply functions will execute when your view loads. After that, the nodes have now been initialized, so the supply functions will not execute again unless you invalidate a context node and it requires re-initialization.

There is a special case regarding singleton nodes that have a parent-child dependency. In this scenario, when the lead selection of the parent changes, the singleton child node needs to be re-initialized. Here is some documentation.
