HI All,

We are currently on BPC NW 7.5 with SP11 and BI 7.3 , we are planning to migrate to BPC 10. i have few questions

1) What is the migration path for doing these, what conversions needed to do so?

2) I know EVDRE is still supported but what ever the VB macors we have on the reports and inputschedules in Version 7.5 will be supported in BPC 10

3) What necessary steps we need to take to maintain same dimension properties? will they change are remain same when we upgrade?

4) How about the script logics? will they work as normal from the version change

5) We have currently BADI's running will they need to be adjusted?

Anyone has any steps to upgrade, i downloaded from the market place upgrade steps, is it sufficient, can any one help me out with the answers to my questions?

Thanks in advance

Regards

Ram

Hi Ram,

Hope this might help solving some of your doubts:

1) What is the migration path for doing these, what conversions needed to do so?

"Extended Analytics Analyzer Report Migration

You can migrate reports created with SAP BusinessObjects Extended Analytics Analyzer 7.5.

To do so, open the workbook containing the reports. Then, follow one of these steps:

• Perform a log on. All the reports are automatically connected if the connections are correctly defined.

• Select Report Actions > Manage Connections > Report Connections and connect the reports

you want. If a cube has changed, you can change the connection for a report

Then, perform a refresh. All the members are identified as EPM members ("=EPMOlapMember" is

displayed in the formula bar when you select a member in the report.)

The following items are not migrated: attribute filtering, Flash objects.

Note:

The dynamic formatting sheet is migrated when you open the workbook. The structure levels are applied.

Caution:

When you migrate the reports, Extended Analytics Analyzer should not be installed."

You can find the complete EPM Add-in for Microsoft Office User Guide here:

http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/boeo10/en/EPMofc_10_user_en.pdf

2) I know EVDRE is still supported but what ever the VB macors we have on the reports and inputschedules in Version 7.5 will be supported in BPC 10

I'm using VB macros on some of my reports having SP 10 installed and it is working fine although i had some troubles after installing the SP 12 so i had to downgrade to the SP 10.

3) What necessary steps we need to take to maintain same dimension properties? will they change are remain same when we upgrade?

The custom process chains to load master data from text files or infoobjects are still working so there should not be any trouble. I have my doubts about Dimension Formulas cause there's a property that has to be activated on the Dimension before using them.

4) How about the script logics? will they work as normal from the version change

As far as i know the Logic Script is only getting better, reserved words are differentiated by colors, there's a pretty print option and some new expressions are accepted on the NW version.

5) We have currently BADI's running will they need to be adjusted?

I wanted to use DAPP BADI for integrating two models but it is no longer accepted on this version, instead we used DESTINATION APP that is also available on 7.5 version.

I have been working on a 10 NW version project but haven't used the migration tools so i cant tell you much about them, but for the structure of the new reports i would think that you will have some work to do.

Hi Ram,

Most of your queries could be resolved by referring to below documents -

http://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/scn/go/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/60b63bb0-570d-2f10-f686-a5147f663...

https://websmp204.sap-ag.de/~sapidb/012006153200000485222011E/BPC10_AppSet_migration_behavior.pdf

2. Regarding EvDRE, yes they are still supported in BPC 10 but highly customized Evdre won't be migrated to BPC 10, you'll have to recreate those.

3. Dimension property - nothing needs to be done, shall be taken care of

4. Script Logic - As Pedro mentioned, it has only become better, so again shouldn't be a problem

5. BADIs - Believe they will still be supported.

Hope it helps!!
