Item Description missing (marketing documents)

Former Member

Hi Guys,

would like to ask if you encountered this issue.

Item description is missing on the marketing documents(PO,PQ,GRPO,AP and etc). Please see error.jpg attachment.

additional info:

- 2000 items are registered in the system and around 160 items are problematic.

- patch upgrade will not solve this issue, since my client is using 8.81 pl 10 and i have already upgraded/tested this on 8.82 pl 7.

- no FMS linked to ItemDescription.

Best regards,

Darius Gragasin

Dear all,

Run into the same problem today.

I have found a solution.

We were synchronising items between two companies with B1i.

Company 1 and 2, Syncrho from 1 to 2.

When an item had a BOM in company  1 and it was updated here, the corresponding item in the second company gave us the problem with item description.

I found out that the TreeType of that item in the second company was 'P' although there was no BOM attached.

So adapted the B1i scenario and changed the TreeType to 'N' in the second company and our problem was solved.

Thank you Bart, I had the same issue.

Items with tree type Production HAVE to have a BOM linked to them.

Cheers for posting.

You may check AITM table too to find any similar itemcodes are in.

Hi ,

Better you update item description in item master and check it. but, it will not affect existing entry made.

Hi Darius,

I can see you have close to 2000 items in one PO. If it is a small PO, do you have the same problem? Are the problems related to specific items?

Thanks,

Gordon

Hi Gordon,

Yup either small or huge number of lines, the problem still exist and it will only reflect on 160+ items.

Hi Darius Robert Gragasin ,

It Seems like some SQl Db Corrupted,

check with the DocEntry for the Item code which is not filling in marketing doc. does it get any error or duplicates...

Raise a ticket with SAP..

Hi Darius,

Your database is probably corrupted and possible caused by sql problem. So, I suggest you to restore latest backup database or you raise a message to SAP support.

Hi Darius.........

If you select the same item in new PO then what?

Still its description wipe out?

Hi Rahul,

Yup, even if i create a new PO the error is still there. But if copy the document from base to target (PO copy to GRPO), then item description will appear only in the target document.

-The only workaround is to create a FMS for "itemdescription" upon updating the ItemCode. but sad to say my client will not accept this type of solution since FMS will only work when you select ItemCode , but if they select ItemDescription then FMS will not work and at the same time I will need to create a unique FMS for each and every marketing document..

Hi Darius,

The only visible difference is that the item that does not show its description is not connected to any transactions yet (you can still change the ItemCode).

This sounds like a serious bug. Have you contacted SAP support about this ?

No. Do not go for FMS as it is damn functional and should come automatically by design.

I would suggest you to update the Item Description once again under Item Master Data where problem is occurring and then try to select the same item in PO.........

If still problem comes then please raise ticket to SAP........

Hi Johan,

Yes even if you select the itemdescription after pressing Tab, itemcode will appear but it will delete the item description.

Hi Rahul,

Yup I already updated the master data and  I even created a query to compare different items.

Hi Darius,

Okay, but that is not what I said.

I said that the problem item is not yet connected to any transactions.

Did you contact SAP support about this ?
