Hi All,

I have installed the new versions of MDM client 7.1.07.166. While I was trying to access the MDM server getting error:

Error: The specified SAP instance does not exist on server

Earlier I was using the versions 7.1.04 and there was not any issue like this. I have already restart the OS.

Please find attached screenshot.

Please help and suggest the solution.

Thanks

Ravi

Hi Ravi,

the MDM client components must have the same release level as your MDM server. So if your MDM server is still on 7.1.04.xxx (SP04) you cannot use clients on 7.1.07.xxx (SP07)!

HI Michael,

Thanks for your reply.

One MDM server is maintained at 7.1.04 and one is new on 7.1.07. Am able to mount new MDM server 7.1.07 with MDM client 7.1.07.

But I have a doubt that can't we access the old MDM server(7.1.04) with new MDM clients 7.1.07 ?

Please confirm.

Thanks

Ravi

Hi Ravi,

You need to use separate GUIs to connect to servers having separate release version.

So you need to use GUIs of SP04 version only to connect to your old server running on SP04 service pack. Thank you.

Hello Ravi,

To access, both the MDM Versions, you need to have both the GUI's installed in your system. While in the installation page, you get an option which folder you need to select, just select different folders.

And you will be able to access both the versions from different GUI's

Abhishek

Hi Ravi,

I had an issue recently like this. One server in SP06 and another one in SP08. And for my surprise I was able to install SP08 in my machine without over writing the already existing SP06. Now I am having two ve3rsions of components and I am really able to work with separate components specific to each server. Try this out. It really works.

Thanks,

Hi,

For help including this.....

Choose different folder location while making the installation of different MDM clients and use the shortcut( to execute the client) from the respective folder itself in C drive.

hello,

What is the issue, would you explain it more.

In your C Drive, create two folders says MDM 7104 and MDM 7106,

once you start the installation, in one step you get to choose where and which folder, to install the GUI clients, select the above created folder in the as per the version.

And in the step it says created desktop shortcut, un-check the check Box.

Once this is all done, rename the GUI's clients and create a Desktop shortcut. this will give you direct shortcuts on your desktop.

Hope this solves your query,

Abhishek

Hi Abhishek,

Issue is resolved as mentioned above by doing installation of respective/different MDM clients for different MDM servers.

Hi Ravi,

You need to use MDM GUI clients having same version as that of MDM server.

As mentioned by Michael you need to install MDM GUIs for SP04 only if your server is still on SP04 service pack and preferably same patch as that of MDS version. I think installing GUIs of correct versions will solve the issue.
