LCM - Security warning while Test Promote

Former Member

Hi all,

I am using the LCM tool to promote a job(LCMBIAR FILE) to our testing server. The job contains Crystal reports based on a Command and it has some Business views(Dynamic cascading prompts). When I try to test promote the job I get the warnings shown in the attachment and because of this when I go run the report from the destination server it doesnt get me the Dynamic prompt with the LOVs. The prompt comes up as empty. Previously I had only one warning for Everyone user group and one of the report was running while the rest did not as I always login as Administrator. But I was trying to resolve the issue so I rolled back and tried to promote the job again and now I started getting the warning for both Everyone and Administrator. And no report gets the Dynamic prompts , all come up empty. And yes even with the warnings the Job runs successfully but the reports don't run as desired.

Any ideas as to why this is happening?

Thank you

Use LCM from destination to avoid this warning. Look slike your destination system is on higher patch level vs your source system...

I do not think your problem with missing prompts after promotion is related.

It looks like during promotion you're not selecting related BV to be promoted or its promotion is not happening.

Hi Denis,

Thanks for the reponse. Yes that's right - the destination system is on a higher patch level than the source system. But I was creating backups of the BI Content thats why I imported them as LCMBIAR file but I did select all its dependancies(also the BV). I can see them when I log onto BVM destination system. But just that the prompts dont work as they should. Any idea how to get rid of those warnings?

as long as you use lower level LCM to move content to higher level system you'll have this warnings.

But, I do not think this warning is the cause of the issue with prompts.

Ok let me be more clear this time.

First I saved Report A directly onto the destination system thru Crystal reports 2011 and I created business view for the prompt from scratch  just to test the new server .... Then I did the promotion ....

I moved 3 reports out of them 2 reports(A&B) use the same BV and the other report(C) uses a different BV. First time  when I promoted ,I had some warning regarding some prompt(a parameter) respective to A&B reports and also a second warning for Everyone user group and both warnings said theres a newer version available in the destination system . But I went ahead and promoted and when I tried to run the reports A&B had problems with the prompt but C ran successfully. So to resolve the issue I deleted the reports and its dependancies and tried to promote it again , and this time I got those warning for Everyone and Administrator and none of the reports ran. I am wondering , if it was regarding the higher level system , why did report C run the first time?

Does this provide any clarity regarding the issue?

So the problem is with relationship between A&B and their BV.

The current warning, in my opinion has nothing to do with it.

Just run a simple test, use LCM from your target system to import this content and see if you get the same warning or not.

I have always been doing this - exporting LCMBIAR file from source , and importing LCMBIAR file to Destination ... because of the patch level difference I am not able to promote from source to destination directly , it doesnt go ahead when I click promote , it just stays as created , so I used the LCMBIAR file method.... and not just A&B reports , Even Report C is not running now  ....  and I really have a strong feeling its because of those warnings because I set user rights on a filter I createed in BV for those reports ....
