SOLMAN 7.1 Update SP-Stack 6 z/os HA-Envir.; Profile path for the primary application server instance

Hello Exports,

I want to do the sp-stack 6 update for SOLMAN 7.1 with SUM version 1.0 SP05 [lmt_006]. We had an HA-envirmonet with ASCS instance on z/os, ApplicationServer on AIX.

At the step "INITIALIZE-COMMON-DETECT-MODULE-DETERMINE-PROFILES" the following errsor accours:

"Could not detect the profile path for the primary application server instance correctly."

I correct the profile like SAP Note 1683575, but no help, But sapstartsrv can determine the profile?!

xs1n04:xe1adm 18> sapcontrol -nr 40 -function ParameterValue SAPPROFILE

23.08.2012 01:56:28

ParameterValue

OK

/usr/sap/XE1/SYS/profile/XE1_DVEBMGS40_sapxe12

Any ideas?

regards

Thomas

Hello,

you can check the parameter value maybe with the sapcontrol program:

sapcontrol -nr <Inst.Nr. from PAS> -function ParameterValue SAPPROFILE

18.01.2016 10:27:56

ParameterValue

OK

/usr/sap/<SID>/SYS/profile/<Profilname>

I think this is the right path and so check yor path.

Hello Shawn,

then when we had the problem, the SUM process for z/os environments had errors. As of today, there should therefore be no problem for 7.0 systems.

The way you continue to write here the start profile is still in use.

For our SOLMAN Double Stack on Linux we have the following profiles:

DEFAULT.PFL

START_SCS_<Inst.Nr.>hostname

START_ASCS<Inst.Nr.>_hostname

START_DVEBMGS<Inst.Nr.>_hostname

<SID>_SCS<Inst.Nr.>_hostname

<SID>_ASCS<Inst.Nr.>_hostname

<SID>_DVEBMGS<Inst.Nr.>_hostname

So I think you have to do nothing.

Hi Mr Thomas,

I do have similar profiles as what you have stated, but I still do have problem trying to find out what did the SUM mean when its telling me

"Could not detect the profile path for the primary application server instance correctly"

I cannot pass through the steps without doing anything also.

sorry to bring back an old post, but i do encounter this while trying to perform SPS patch with SUM on my dual stack BI on NW7.0, My ASCS/SCS/Appliaction are all running on Windows

How does the merging of the START profile and INSTANCE profile works? I thought START profile is still valid as of NW 7.0?

So Mr Thomas, you merge the contents together, but your sapstartsrv was still started via START Profile for ASCS/SCS/PAS??

Hi, Thomas,

at the present i have the same problem in the same hardware configuration.

Do I understand right that you changed START-profile to instance profile in "pf=" parameter of sapstartsrv? Right?

As i understand you copied contents of START-profile into Instance-profile. But what's the difference?

And what about application profiles and sapservice files ? Do you leave them unchanged?

Thank you very much.

Hello Igor,

yes right, I changed the entries in the /usr/sap/sapservices for sapstartsrv from start profil to instance profil.

In the startprofil there are entries like "exexute...". This entries in "older" release < 731 is not present in the instance profil. So i copied the content from startprofil into the instance profil. sapservices files I do not changed them.

Best regards

Did you fix this issue yet?

Hello Bryan,

yes I do. On the SCS instance on z/os I have correct maintain the /usr/sap/sapservice file, so that the sapstartsrv is startet with the instanceprofile.
