    Hi,

    In two places Abap Code we can other than Update Rules

    1. At Infopackage level Extraction Tab -> File Name

    2. DTP -> Filter

    Cross check at Update Rules 1. Start Routine 2. End Routine 3. Field Routine

    Hi Sakthivel,

    You can restrict special characters in transformation only, where you will have a chance to write routines.

    Hi,

    I think you are working for 3.5 version, anyway in general, BW system won't accept invalid characteristics.I think in your case also happened the same, it is not due to routines.

    New data table accepts data(with invalid characteristcs) what ever it is populated from R3 but while activating the data system will through the error.

    or

    there is a standard FM which can be used at field routine(infoobject level)

    Anand.
