Process Chain issue in SAP BI 7.0 system

Former Member

Hi,

I have a Process chain with 8 DTPs.

First 4 DTPs will run in parallel and upon successful completion only next DTPs are triggered.

Off late I see next second DTP starts while the first DTP is still running( yellow status)

I want the first DTP to finish and then start the next DTP below

Have you this behavior in your SAP BI 7.0 system.

Do we have to install any patches?  Please share your thoughts.

Thanks

Santosh.

HI

This document may be useful to you.

Whenever a job fails with an error "Time out" it means job that job has been stopped due to some reason, and the request is still in yellow state. and as a result of as same resulted in time out error it leads to short dump in the system in BW or in ECC.

Thank you

Hi Santosh,

Is the load by the DTP complete and the status is yellow or the data load itself is in progress?

Hi Harish,

While the first DTP is still running (yellow status) , second DTPs starts off inspite of setting it as

upon successful completion of First DTP.

I want the first DTP to finish and then start the next DTP below.

Thanks

Between the first and second set, are there any logical connections?

If not, is this strange running happening for a single DTP or all the first set DTPs?

There is no logical connection first and second DTP.

Thanks

Hi,

First let us calrify the below points,

1. Does First DTP picks any records?

2. Is there Dependency between First and Second DTP's? (Does both DTP's Start at the same time?)

Case 1: If First DTP picks some records and request is still in yellow

Solution : then u have do either manually or apply SAP note :  1241531 ( P20:DTP:BATCH:DTP request remains yellow if no background WP)

Goto Function Module RSBM_GUI_CHANGE_USTATE and provide the request ID and Change QM status from Yellow to Green.

Case 2. If both DTP's start times are same (No Dependency)

Solution : Keep First DTP as Dependency

If above case's are not in ur issue, then provide the more error details

Is this happening for a single DTP or all first set of DTPs?

Hi Naresh,

Yes.

First DTP picks records as expected , but when the first DTP is still running , second DTP kicks off

inspite of Keeping  First DTP as Dependency.

My interest  is not to change first DTP status from Yellow to green " but second DTP has to wait till first DTP is completely done.

Thanks for useful information.

Hi Santosh,

Answer the below point

Does First DTP picks any records after second DTP starts or its picks the excepted the records from source and status is still in yellow ?

Ex: 100 records from PSA and First DTP picks 100 records, then the second DTP will starts or First DTP picks 50 records in between Second DTP starts??

Check First DTP Monitor Header tab, wheather Over all status is Green or only Technical Status is Green.

If Technical status is green and Overall Status is Yellow, the Goto DTP and keep the settings Set, Overall status automatically in Execute Tab.

suppose First DTP picks excepted records and status is yellow means then due to less resource's some times the DTP overall status will be Yellow.
